Gone For So Long

Time is just flying by!  I had not realized it had been so long since I had posted on this blog.  Here's an update on my entrepreneurial life.  I have lots of training and speaking sessions scheduled for February and March. January was pretty busy. The challenge with a new business is spending the time building the future engagements while making the current engagements fun and interesting.  Anyone out there interested in some leadership development and management training?  I have to admit--I…See More

Entrepreneur Update

It's been a month since I left my full time position. I should say, it's been a month since I left my full time position at the Company where I was working. Starting your own business is a full time position! I have been so busy getting things set up, networking, taking a class on how to have a Facebook page, contacting people, and figuring out what to do, that I have been working full time. Now, I love the flexibility! I am doing these things when I want to. I've heard from people who work at…See More

A New Life

On August 27, I resigned from my full-time position in a big corporation to become an entrepreneur! I have started my own training, coaching, facilitation, and consulting business. I also hope to spend much more time writing and working on becoming published! No, I didn't take off for a month--giving myself that much needed vacation. I jumped right in there to complete many of the legal processes that it takes to estabish a business in the State of Mississippi. I also have had to face the…See More

A Change of Mind

For so many years, I have been a proponent of Just In Time Training--training employees on what they need to know when they need to know it. So many times, when implementing a new software program or process, employers train employees way in advance of implementation and they forget most of what they learned before it is time to actually use what they learned.Recent events have made me question my belief in this philosophy. For several years, we have been accustomed to hearing about first…See More

Networking, Six Degrees of Separation or Coincidence?

On my last post I described how I recently had attended ASTD ICE in Chicago. Here's a story that happened after that. On Monday after I returned from the Conference, I received an e-mail from a woman who is in another organization that I am in (Professional Woman's Association). She was forwarding an e-mail from another member of PWA who was a member of AAF (the American Advertising Federation) which I had never heard of before. This e-mail (doesn't this sound like a he said, she said?) was…See More
