"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." -Gandhi
This quote from Mahatma Gandhi has long been one of my favorites, and I very much believe that Berrett-Koehler's mission of 'Creating a World That Works for All' should and does apply to our furry and feathered friends, as well. I am a life-long lover of animals, and ever since I have been conscious of doing good and serving my community, I have been involved with various dog rescue organizations.
Here in San Francisco, I am an active volunteer with
Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. Muttville's mission is to change the way the world thinks about and treats older dogs and to create better lives for senior dogs through rescue, foster, adoption, and hospice.
To gain a better understanding of Muttville, it's founder, and -- of course -- the pups, I recommend taking a moment to watch
this video.
Of course, Muttville is far from the only animal rescue organization. If you're actively working to make a difference in the lives of animals, or know somebody else who is, please use this space to share your experiences with the community.
